Fireworks Festival - Blast Off To Country Shines

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – The PotashCorp Fireworks Festival is back this weekend – Friday August 31st and Saturday September 1st. With Country Music Week and the Country Music Awards closely following this year’s festival theme is “Blast off to Country Shines”. Shad Ali, Festival Director says: “the festival offers something for all ages and interests across three festival sites. All locations feature spectacular views of the festival’s main attraction – the fireworks – offering unique pyrotechnic shows each night, both choreographed to music and this year featuring country music.”

Performers Announced

With a focus on country music this year, not only will the fireworks shows be choreographed to country music but the primary entertainment venues will feature some of Canada’s Top country performers. The Traxx Country Shines Stage at Rotary Park will feature four major performers:

Friday Night ( August 31st)

  • Wyatt (four time country music Group of the year) performs 7:30 to 8:30
  • Brad Johner (Juno nominee and CCMA winner) performs at 9:50
  • Games & Contests from 8:30 to 9:30
  • Fireworks at 9:30
  • The Fireworks Runs kicks off at 6:30

Saturday Night (September 1st)

  • Bullrush (New Local Country Sensation) performs 7:30 to 8:30
  • Donny Parenteau (11 time CCMA Nominee, 7 time APCA Nominee) performs at 9:50
  • Games & Contests from 8:30 to 9:30
  • Fireworks at 9:30
  • The SaskEnergy Volunteers Count BBQ is from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Feature Performance by Catherine Lewans – in the Remai Arts Centre

Along with these exciting activities, there will be exciting games for prizes, in Rotary Park in the Beer Gardens, A Cultural Showcase at the River Landing amphitheatre stage, the SGI Safety Fair, and plenty of family fun (mascots, face painting, jumpy toys, and a whole lot more).

Admission is free of charge to all outdoor venues all weekend, and festival events get going at 5 p.m. The fireworks are launched at approximately 9:30 p.m.
