Tourism Saskatoon has an immediate opening for an
National Convention/Cultural Event Sales Executive

(Permanent, full time)

The successful individual will:

• Research, qualify and develop leads.

• Responsible for maintaining database of convention leads and prospecting along with appropriate follow up correspondence.

• Organize convention initiatives, such as marketplace sales missions, trade shows, site visits and events.

• Attend select trade events and sales missions.

• Responsible for setting up appointments and follow-up from sales missions.

• BID development and presentations along with research and intelligence gathering.

• Liaise with event organizers and host committees once events are secured for Saskatoon.

• Assist with the coordination and delivery of FAMs and site visits.

• Communicate national leads to partners and follow up on results.

• Handle information requests specific to national conventions and events.

• Responsible for updates to Conventions Saskatoon web and BID sites.

• Support the activities of the Director of National Conventions and Event Marketing.

Characteristics, skills, and education:

• A minimum of 3-years' direct experience in convention sales. A certificate, diploma or degree in a tourism related field.

• An existing network of association and local contacts would be an asset.

• Knowledge of the tourism and/or convention industry.

• Experience with Microsoft Office, database programs and website management.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
