Cameco Meewasin Skating Rink at PotashCorp Plaza opens Saturday
The Cameco Meewasin Skating Rink at PotashCorp Plaza located in Kiwanis Park next to the Bessborough (the best outdoor skating rink in Canada – Readers Digest 2006) will be open for public skating beginning Saturday, December 17, 2011, 12:00 pm.
The rink and skate change warm up shelter will be in operation daily 12:00 – 9:00 pm. and 11:00 – 9:00 pm on Sundays. Group rentals are available after hours (call Meewasin at 306-665-6887 week days or the Meewasin Valley Centre at 306-665-6888 on weekends and holidays).
During operational hours, Meewasin rink supervisors will be in attendance, and the Cameco Meewasin Skaters’ Lodge warm-up shelter will be accessible. Ice skates are available free of charge. There is no charge to skate at the facility; however, contributions to the silver collection are appreciated. Meewasin closes the rink at a wind chill of -31 C.
Please provide your own helmets and safety equipment. The rink is for public skating. No hockey sticks or pucks are allowed.
The rink will be open Christmas Eve until 9:00 pm; New Year’s Eve until 1:00 am and New Year’s Day until 9:00 pm.
Meewasin is always in need of donated skates of all sizes especially larger sizes of 8 and up for use by patrons who do not have skates. Please drop off donated skates at the rink during operational hours or the Meewasin Valley Centre.
