Over the years, Canadian professional fiddler, ASHLEY MACISAAC has been called a prodigy and also an enfant terrible of the fiddle. Call him what you will, no one can shred the fiddle the way he can. Hailing from Cape Breton, he grew up surrounded by fiddle music and has constantly pushed its boundaries, incorporating traditional, Celtic, rock and pop influences and everything in between.
He started step dancing and playing fiddle at an early age, and has played the most diverse venues imaginable: from pubs and international festivals to the opening ceremonies at the Vancouver Olympics all the way to Carnegie Hall.
Juno Awards – Best New Solo Artist, Best Instrumental Artist and for Best Roots & Traditional Album –solo.
His acclaimed 1992 album, “Close to the Floor” was followed by “Hi, How Are You Today?”,which went double-Platinum. His most recent offering ”Crossover” has been called “Ashley at his best”.
