| July 20, 2008 | Fur Trade Day Watch hunters display their skill with black powder muzzle-loaders, tomahawk throwing or bow and arrow. You can even try it! Learn about trapping from real trappers who know the modern fur trade and SK's wild animals inside and out. Watch fur trade era demos like fire starting with flint and steel. Share in a bannock bake, sample pemmican and enjoy more fur trade fun! |
| August 10, 2008 | Music Day The fur trade drew workers from many different cultures - Plains Cree, Scottish and Métis, to name a few. Often far from home, these workers made the Hudson's Bay Company rich, but also added the richness of their musical
traditions to a new fur trade culture. Come listen to echoes of Scottish bagpipes, feel the energy of Métis jigging to the fiddle, and enjoy the beat of Plains
Cree singing and drumming.

Make a night of it and camp in Fort Carlton's starlit campground! You must call Fort Carlton Provincial Park before Aug 29 to reserve your space for this evening program. |
