Chitravali is a dance concert performed by Rama Vaidyanathan, a leading exponent of Bharatnatyam a popular classical Indian dance form. Chitravali brings together three creative art forms, painting, music and dance. Ancient miniature paintings, Sanskrit verses, bandishes from Hinustani music, and the dance form of Bharatnatyam all come together to infuse life into the characters of the paintings of Krishna. The Hindustani system of music through Khayal, Thumri, Dhrupad, and Tarana have been incorporated to maintain the flavor of the North Indian paintings.

The concert is choreographed and presented by Rama Vaidyanathan with the live accompaniment by five musicians from India. The dance concert is being hosted as part of Canada 150 celebration to present one of the ancient Indian dance tradition to the multicultural society of Saskatoon.
