In honour of Diabetes Awareness Month, on Friday, November 10th Diabetes Canada will host it’s 4th annual No Sugar Tonight at the reputable Prairieland Park venue in Saskatoon. No Sugar Tonight is an intimate evening of fine dining and entertainment featuring a customized, health friendly gourmet meal featuring whole grains with no refined sugars. Gala proceeds are used to support child, family and youth programming, including Saskatchewan Children's Camp and the Leadership Development, Family Camp, Youth in Action and Children in Schools programs.

Vic Dubois, from the Saskatoon Media Group, will be the evening's emcee. Ted Lockie, senior manager of the D-Camps Program for Diabetes Canada, will be the keynote speaker. Ted, who is also an alumni of the D-Camps Program, will share his story of living with type 1 diabetes for the last 32 years and the role that camp has played in his life. In addition, there will be a silent auction and entertainment from hypnotist Corrie J and singer Michelle Dubois. Big Stuff will round out the evening.

Diabetes Canada is the only organization in Saskatchewan to provide programming for children living with diabetes. Diabetes Canada understands that diabetes is a costly medical condition and we believe that financial considerations should never determine a child’s eligibility to participate in D-Camp. Though the cost incurred by Diabetes Canada to send one child to our week long summer camp is approximately $3,000, camp registration fees are less than 15% of the actual cost of providing D-Camp programs. Thanks to community support and events like No Sugar Tonight, Diabetes Canada offers a generous campership program to assist families with meeting the cost of participation.
