About the musicians:
Simon Fisk and Mark DeJong have collaborated in various musical settings for the past several years, including the Outer Bridge ensemble, the JuJubarians, and trio performances with legendary drummer Jerry Granelli. With instrumentation including saxophone, bass, drums, cello, bass clarinet and percussion, they now venture into new musical territory with piano.

Fisk and DeJong first connected with pianist David Braid on a 2010 Outer Bridge Ensemble western Canadian tour. The three became immediate friends and instant musical compadres, and have been looking for performance opportunities ever since. With compositions from all three members, the music will be very dynamic in style and influence.

Fisk, DeJong, and Braid bring very strong individual voices into an environment of deep commitment to listening, open-ness and creative intent. The music is first and foremost, with three voices floating, interacting, and creating a dynamic interplay that will engage listeners from all walks of life.

The 26th SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival runs June 22 – July 1, 2012. The Festival will announce the complete ticketed lineup on May 3, while free stage schedules will be made available on May 17. For more information, visit the Festival website at saskjazz.com.
