Persephone Theatre general manager annouces resignation

Published: Mar 15, 2012

The Board of Directors of Persephone Theatre announced today that Sheldon Born has resigned as general manager of the theatre.

Mr. Born joined Persephone Theatre in 2001 as Controller, becoming general manager just 4 months later. During his 11 years, the theatre has grown to one of Saskatchewan’s largest arts organizations with a budget of over $3.3 million.

"Managing Persephone has been exciting and at times difficult. We have made great strides, building a state of the art facility, expanding programming, reaching record attendance numbers and achieving more than anyone ever predicted. Throughout my time at Persephone, I’ve been sustained by the hard work, creativity and dedication of the people I’ve had the honour to work with," said Mr. Born.

He continued, "I have truly enjoyed working in the theatre, but my true passion has always been the outdoors. Now I find myself with the opportunity to mesh both my passion and my career. I will always be proud of my association with Persephone."

"Without Sheldon’s tireless efforts, Saskatoon would not have the Remai Arts Centre, nor would Persephone Theatre be one of the largest and most financially stable theatres in Canada. On behalf of everyone at Persephone, I thank Sheldon for service and commitment to the organization. He leaves a large legacy and we wish him great success in his new endeavors," said Marcia Clark, Chair of the Board.

Mr. Born has accepted the position of Senior Operation Manager at Cabala’s new store at Preston Crossing.
The search for a new General Manager will begin immediately.
