The Saskatoon Western Development Museum is thrilled to be partnering with the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition at Pion-Era on July 13 and 14.

Visitors to Pion-Era 2013 will get a sneak preview of the fiddlers, including three-time Grand Masters Champion fiddler, Mark Sullivan, who will play at 2:00 p.m. daily. Throughout the two days, fiddlers will be roaming the grounds entertaining visitors with their amazing talent. Fiddlers include James Steele, Dale Amyotte, Celine Hounjet and Celeste Smith.

“The Western Development Museum at Saskatoon is proud to be partnering with the Canadian Grand Master Fiddling Competition to offer a sneak preview at Pion-Era of their upcoming event by featuring such fiddlers as Mr. Mark Sullivan, three-time Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Champion” says Jason B. Wall, WDM Manager. “Community partnerships between the Canadian Grand Master Fiddling Competition and the WDM are what truly make Saskatoon Shine and represent the pioneer co-operative spirit that people from around the world have come to know Saskatchewan and Saskatoon for.”

“The Canadian Grand Masters Saskatoon host committee is excited to be part of this year's Pion-Era. Fiddling was the main instrument on the prairies in the pioneer days and we are really pleased to be celebrating the fiddle at this year's event.” says Jennifer Bork, CGM. “People will get a taste of what is in store at the August contest - hearing local fiddlers like James Steele who is representing Saskatchewan, as well as seeing national talent like the amazing Mark Sullivan.”

For the first time in its 24 year history, the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition will be held outside of Ottawa, in Saskatoon at Lakeview Auditorium. The competition on August 24 features 30 of Canada’s best young fiddlers on the contest circuit today. From across Canada, they will be together on one stage – guaranteed to warm the hearts of old-time fiddling fans.
