City hosts travel media conference; Saskatoon Summer Experience team invades Regina

Tourism Saskatoon is celebrating Tourism Week in Canada with a friendly invasion of Regina.

The Saskatoon Summer Experience team will be in the provincial capital from June 10 to 13 and June 24 to 27, handing out festival passes, concert tickets, golf passes, and many other prizes. Passersby will be given exclusive access to an online contest with two grand prizes valued at $1,000. The location of the Saskatoon Summer Experience team in Regina will be revealed through Tourism Saskatoon’s Facebook page and Twitter account (@visitsaskatoon).

“We are excited to be in Regina, promoting our wonderful city,” said Daryl Demoskoff, Director of Markets and Advertising for Tourism Saskatoon. “Not only is this an opportunity for us to spread awareness of Saskatoon festivals, events and attractions, but it also gives us a chance to say thank you for thinking of us as a destination of choice.”

While the Summer Experience team invades Regina, travel media from across the country will be taking over Saskatoon for the 2013 Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC) Conference and AGM, June 12 to 15. The annual conference is an opportunity for TMAC members to exchange story ideas, explore new destinations and keep up-to-date on skills, trends and techniques. Industry members are able to showcase their destinations at the media marketplace, a scheduled business-to-business networking session. As the host destination, Saskatoon has a unique opportunity to stand out.

“Saskatoon is a vibrant, energetic city and we are thrilled to be the host destination, sharing our city with Canada’s top travel media,” said Todd Brandt, President and CEO of Tourism Saskatoon. “We look forward to welcoming both the media and our industry counterparts to our city and province, especially during Tourism Week in Canada.”

Tourism Week in Canada is a grassroots initiative that brings attention to the economic opportunity available to Canada through travel and tourism activity. Tourism Saskatoon believes that a strong tourism sector relies on the dedication and support of community members, and recognizes these local leaders each year at the Saskatoon Shines! Tourism Leadership Celebration.

This year’s event takes place June 18 at the Hilton Garden Inn. Tickets are $65 each or $350 for a table of six and can be purchased by contacting Heather Bury at (306) 931-7583 or hbury@tourismsaskatoon.com. Please respond by June 12.
