Saskatoon’s tourism industry has enjoyed a number of years of sustained performance and success. More than 2.5 million travellers from within Canada visited Saskatoon in 2011, according to Statistics Canada information released earlier this month. Total expenditures by these visitors amounted to $553.7 million. With a record one million room nights sold in 2012, statistics for that year look promising.

According to a 2012 report by InterVISTAS Consulting, Tourism Saskatoon has been able to improve its level of hotel room revenue generation relative to organizational expenses over the past couple of years. The report stated this suggests the organization has delivered an enhanced level of return on investment to destination stakeholders.

Tourism Saskatoon, in partnership with Conventions Saskatoon and Saskatoon Sports Tourism, continues to generate impressive returns on investment which contribute to the overall success of the destination. Saskatoon’s hotel occupancy ranking has placed in the top three in a list of 13 competitive cities since 2007, holding the number one spot from 2008 through 2011.
