$6.5 million investment combines a fresh look with innovative features
SASKATOON – Delta Bessborough proudly announced today their recent attainment of a Four Diamond rating by leisure travel organization, AAA. The designation is awarded to fewer than 4.5 per cent of 31,000 hotel properties, and was a result of their most recent evaluation. The hotel recently underwent a $6.5 million renovation of its 225 guestrooms to provide spaces that are modern, adaptable and laden with technology features.
The versatile new design is aimed at today’s highly design-conscious travelers, who want to live, work and connect on their own terms. Today’s traveler wants a hotel that allows them to incorporate travel into their life as seamlessly as possible.
The new guestroom design, called ModeRoom™, is inspired by the Canadian landscape, with fresh and modern colour palettes and a focus on maximizing natural light. The rooms balance functionality and adaptability – as exemplified by the new SmartDesk™, a fully-wired, multi-purpose area that provides guests with a clutter-free space, built-in power and connectivity dock, and links from your laptop and mobile devices to the flat screen high definition TV. All of the renovated rooms will also include free high-speed internet access.
“The renovation is an important revolution for the hotel,” says Andrew Turnbull, General Manager, Delta Bessborough. “Today’s travelers expect a different experience than travelers in years past. They expect to be able to work or stay connected to friends and family no matter where they are, and our new design will better enable guests to have that seamless experience when they stay at Delta.”
The design also features subtle and thoughtful touches to help guests feel at home. From conveniently placed shelves and hooks in the entry way, to pinpoint reading lights in the headboard, to bedside plug-ins for your smartphone devices, the goal of Delta’s ModeRoom design is to give travelers a sense of comfort that is easily adapted to suit their needs. Delta’s ModeRoom will also feature philosophy® amenities skin care products, making the chain one of the first in the world to introduce this line into hotels, with exclusivity in Canada.
The renovated guestrooms are an exciting addition following the opening of the hotel’s 1,800 square foot spa in December 2011. The hotel’s distinctive, castle-like appearance make it a sought-after venue for special occasions and events, as well as for business travel to Saskatoon.
“Our Four Diamond rating is certainly a validation of the quality of our recent renovations,” says Turnbull. “Throughout this renovation we have made considerable efforts to preserve the heritage features of the property while balancing that with contemporary design and innovative features. This is the most extensive renovation that the hotel has seen in its 76-year history.”
Delta Bessborough offers the new guestrooms in two categories – Mode and ModeClub. The ModeClub rooms will offer upgraded services and amenities including turndown service and exclusive access to a private lounge featuring evening hors d’oeuvres and deluxe continental breakfast.
Renovations were overseen by Anderson Miller Design and were completed in April of this year.

Delta Bessborough Hotel Receives CAA/AAA Four Diamond Rating
The Delta Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon has been awarded the prestigious CAA/AAA Four Diamond Rating, making it the only Saskatchewan property to receive the distinction. The diamond rating program is North America’s premier hotel and restaurant rating system. The four diamond rating is given only to those hotels that are refined and stylish, featuring upscale physical attributes. The hotels must also offer an extensive array of amenities, combined with a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.
The Delta Bessborough Hotel joins a select group of CAA/AAA Four Diamond Rating winners. Fewer than 4.5% of the more than 31,000 properties approved by CAA/AAA receive this distinction.
“This award recognizes the Delta Bessborough Hotel’s dedication to service excellence and its commitment to continually meet the needs and exceed the expectations of its guests,” said Fred Titanich, President & CEO of CAA Saskatchewan. “We are extremely pleased to recognize and honour the hotel with the four diamond designation.”
The diamond rating process includes an annual evaluation by professional inspectors during which properties must meet rigorous requirements and guidelines to become CAA/AAA approved. CAA/AAA rates more properties than any other rating entity and is the only rating system that covers the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. It is one of only two that conduct physical, on-site evaluations.
CAA/AAA Approved and Diamond Rated hotel and restaurant listings can be found in the CAA/AAA TourBook® guides available at CAA offices or in the downloadable eTourBookSM guides at caask.ca/maps. Smartphone users can also locate Diamond Rated establishments through the Trip Tik feature in the free CAA Mobile app available at caa.ca/mobile.
