Wine and Dine in Saskatoon

Saskatoon offers up a large variety of restaurants sure to please even those with the most discerning of palates; from exquisite upscale establishments offering a la carte delicacies to down-home country kitchens serving your favourite comfort foods. One thing is for certain - you will not go hungry in Saskatoon.

For your fine-dining pleasures, be sure to check out Truffles (www.trufflesbistro.ca) located in downtown Saskatoon’s historic Birks building. Truffles offers traditional French cuisine with a modern twist.  All breads, pastries, stocks and sauces are prepared in house using the freshest, local ingredients. Situated along the South Saskatchewan River, The Berry Barn (www.theberrybarn.com) offers a comforting atmosphere and home-style cooking including perogies, homemade soups and a waffle bar. After dining, head over to the gift shop and pick up some delicious berry preserves or other berry inspired take-homes, or take a pail to the U-Pick area, open daily during picking season.  You can also visit the greenhouse for beautiful Begonias, or fresh grown Saskatchewan fruits and veggies from July to December.  You’ll feel right at home at this charming eatery – and no wonder, it’s been family run since 1997.

Located in the historic 100-year-old Hotel Senator, Winston’s English Pub (www.winstonspub.ca) offers classic pub grub and more than 140 international stouts, ales, lagers and ciders, including 40 local, Canadian and international beers on tap. A true classic, Winston’s is one of the best places to grab a beer in Saskatoon.

Some patrons have dubbed this spot the best burger joint in town. The Park Café’s Park Burger is an all-beef burger, smothered in gooey smoked cheddar, bacon and all the fixings – and it’s just one of the mouthwatering selections on the menu. Located in Riverside Park, the Park Café offers diners traditional diner food at great prices.

You’ll come for the burgers and stay for the ice cream at Jerry’s Food Emporium (www.jerrys.ca), where all gelatos, dairy-free and fat-free sorbets, frozen yogurts and no-sugar-added ice creams are handmade. Using the freshest ingredients available, with no added preservatives, Jerry’s offers a variety of flavours including limited edition Saskatchewan fruits ice creams. Serving a full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner, Jerry’s also creates custom ice cream cakes so you can take the delicious-ness with you when you leave!

Whether you dine in, take out, stop at the deli or indulge in their carefully curated selection of wine, Souleio Foods (www.souleio.net) is a one-stop shop. This urban market offers artisanal, sustainably-produced foods from local sources and producers around the world with a focus on fresh, organic, local and unique.  Farm-to-fork is the mantra of this beloved epicurean establishment.
