Visitor Experience & Member Engagement Coordinator -  Full Time – Permanent

Tourism Saskatoon is seeking a spirited adventurer passionate about Saskatooning to join our team as our Visitor Experience & Member Engagement Coordinator.

As the internationally-accredited destination management organization for Saskatoon, we market and manage Saskatoon’s authentic experiences at home and around the world. By telling the story of our city, we inspire people around the world to visit. Working as our Visitor Engagement Coordinator and Executive Assistant, you will provide the necessary support to make this possible.

Position Summary:

Reporting to Tourism Saskatoon’s Stewardship Lead, the Visitor Experience and Member Engagement Coordinator supports Saskatoon’s diverse visitor economy through the promotion of local experiences to travellers and residents. You will be the first point of contact for travellers and locals calling for travel advice or, visiting our Visitor Centre while continuing to evolve the Visitor Centre experience and retail space.

Success in this role requires a candidate who is well-versed in and proud of the people and experiences that make Saskatoon the city it is. Excellent customer service and organizational skills are essential for ensuring our operations run smoothly and that we deliver a consistent and positive experience for all prospective, current, and future visitors.

What You’ll Need:
 

  • Minimum three years’ experience in an administrative or service relations position, or a combination of experience and a diploma or certificate in a recognized business program
  • Secondary education in tourism or a related field of study would be considered an asset
  • Sales and retail experience is required
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Saskatoon and surrounding region experiences and navigation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, and Quick Books Accounting
  • Ability to successfully balance tasks, sometimes with competing deadlines

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing front-line assistance and advice to walk-in visitors and residents with questions about accommodations, events, attractions, and other tourism-related businesses
  • Answering telephone and email inquiries about Saskatoon and area, as well as questions related to Tourism Saskatoon and its operations
  • Reception duties in support of our joint tenants at SREDA, STEC & Tourism Saskatchewan
  • Coordinating and merchandising all promotional items including daily cash reconciliations via Quick Books Accounting and POS terminals; maintaining a quarterly inventory count of stock; purchasing inventory; selling merchandise and tracking promotional/giveaway items; and maintaining merchandise display area
  • Designing, launching and managing Tourism Saskatoon’s online store
  • Processing membership renewals and maintaining Tourism Saskatoon’s membership database
  • Coordinate special events for members (e.g., golf tournaments, workshops)
  • Invoicing for membership renewals and other member-related events
  • Maintain membership database
  • Stocking Tourism Saskatoon brochures, distributing Tourism Saskatoon visitor guide and connecting with partners to ensure robust representation of travel literature in Visitor Centre
  • Coordinating distribution of Tourism Saskatoon publications and information stand deliveries
  • Keeping the reception area neat and tidy (minor cleaning required)
  • Filling brochure order requests from Tourism Saskatoon members
  • Completing daily and monthly Tourism Saskatoon visitor statistics (walk-ins, phone calls, emails, written requests, information stands, brochure distribution)
  • Coordinating Tourism Saskatoon mascot appearances
  • Coordinate and execute general administrative duties for the Tourism Saskatoon office
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail
  • Other duties as required

In Market Business Development Lead - Full Time – Long Term Contract

Tourism Saskatoon is seeking an In Market Business Development Lead with a passion for people and a flare for sales.

As the internationally accredited destination management organization for Saskatoon, we promote our city as the destination of choice for authentic Saskatoon experiences. By telling the story of our city, we inspire associations and corporations to book their business events in Saskatoon. The In Market Business Development Lead plays a leading role in making this possible.

Position Summary:

As the In Market Business Development Lead (IMBD), you will implement the sales process from lead development through to successful conversion, working as the liaison with our clients and Saskatoon partners.  You will maintain, build, and grow our client base through solid relationship sales strategies.

This position requires strong ties to the business event community and experience as both a planner and a seller.  The IMBD must be in the primary market region of Ottawa. Participation in local event industry networking and education events is a key component of this contract.

Creativity and leadership skills are essential as you conceptualize, manage, and execute in-market and Saskatoon based initiatives for client events, tradeshows, sales missions, sites and FAMs ensuring initiatives are well aligned with the Tourism Saskatoon brand and move our destination promotion strategy forward towards lead conversions.

Exceptional communications skills and attention to detail are essential to ensure accurate and current client data is maintained in the CRM and informative bids are created to facilitate collaboration with the business development team.

What You’ll Need:
Experience in the Business Event market and event management

  • An existing network of key association and local connections
  • Knowledge of the tourism and/or Business Event and Sport Tourism industry
  • Strong understanding of MS office applications, CRM’s and efficient database management
  • Service-oriented with a strong customer focus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Saskatoon’s business event facilities and venues is an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset but not mandatory
  • Ability to travel throughout Canada and Saskatoon representing Tourism Saskatoon at industry events, site visits and FAM tours.

What You’ll Do:

Destination Sales  

  • Generate leads through researching, qualifying, and developing business event, incentive and sport tourism opportunities
  • Participate in local associations’ networking and education events, PCMA, MPI and CSAE
  • Coordinate, manage and execute in-market initiatives for client events and tradeshows
  • Communicate with stakeholders/partners and clients in the BID process on behalf of Tourism Saskatoon
  • Work with Tourism Saskatoon to assist in the coordination of Sites & FAMS in Saskatoon
  • Ensure all market lead communications and updates are current in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system and Bid site
  • Provide monthly market intelligence report of trends and leads to Director of Business Events

  • This contract is based within the Ottawa area
  • Contract Status: 35 hours per week
  • This contract will require evening and weekend work, and approximately 4 -8 business trips per year.

Brand and Communications Manager - Full Time – Permanent

Position Summary:

As our Brand and Communications Manager, you will oversee content development and management, marketing partnerships, and paid marketing, ensuring initiatives are well aligned with the Tourism Saskatoon brand and move our destination promotion strategy forward. This position requires a strong command of existing and emerging digital platforms and trends, an eye for numbers, creative energy, intellectual curiosity, and a proficiency in problem-solving.  

Exceptional writing and communications skills are essential to champion the execution of Tourism Saskatoon’s destination storytelling. Ensuring consistency of both Tourism Saskatoon’s brand and messaging requires dynamic, engaged relationships with external partners, agencies, and team members. Strategic coaching, mentorship, and direction of a team of content professionals (staff and contractors) fosters alignment and collaboration across the whole team.

You will also oversee Tourism Saskatoon’s content management system(s) and editorial/content calendars, ensuring efficient use of resources to proactively plan and deliver on all content requirements by themes and consumer segments for a variety of audiences.

What You’ll Need:

  • A degree in marketing, communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in supporting or leading consumer marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels
  • Experience in blog writing and SEO
  • Confidence in managing multi-faceted projects and oversight of multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills, including copywriting for social media and advertising campaigns

What You’ll Do:

Campaign Strategy and Support

  • Support the development and execution of marketing plans and tactics in alignment with business goals, strategic objectives, and the Tourism Saskatoon brand
  • Work closely and build relationships with our creative agency and other key collaborators to execute Tourism Saskatoon campaigns globally
  • Seek opportunities for innovation and efficiencies within our marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate with our creative agency on all ad unit production and trafficking
  • Support Tourism Saskatoon’s consumer campaigns in other aspects and tasks as identified by the Director, Marketing & Communications.             

Brand Management & Implementation

  • Own the development of Tourism Saskatoon’s brand and messaging of the brand narrative
  • Create, execute, and manage marketing campaigns, communications, and media actions on all channels, including online and social media
  • Develop and adapt brand strategies throughout all lines of business for specific target markets
  • Set style guides, brand guidelines, brand vision and value proposition for short as well as long term
  • Act as Tourism Saskatoon’s “Brand Guardian” to maintain brand integrity across all marketing initiatives and communications
  • Assist with product development, pricing and new product launches as well as developing new business opportunities
  • Create promotional collateral to establish and maintain Tourism Saskatoon branding

Relationship building and collaboration

  • Coordinate, manage, and enhance relationships and partnerships with other orders of government, municipal organizations, and key external collaborators both within and outside the region
  • Identify networking and participation opportunities for the Board, CEO, and/or Leadership Team members
  • Lead and project manage all content development projects with videographers, photographers and, in connection with creative agency.
  • Work cross-functionally with team members to ensure integration and leverage of campaigns related to Tourism Saskatoon’s brand strategy and marketing communications platforms
  • Collaborate with the Director, Marketing & Communications and Manager, Digital Marketing to ensure both earned and paid media initiatives are aligned and supported
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing & Communications team to ensure consumer campaigns and corporate key messages are fully integrated
  • Participate in inter-departmental and agency partner meetings as required

Position Summary:

As our Social Media Specialist, you understand the importance and impact of social media marketing and are an expert communicator with a strong command of social platforms. On a day-to-day basis, you will monitor and maintain our brand presence on our social accounts, building relationships with our followers, industry partners, and future travelers. You will be responsible for real-time, daily interactions with our online community, making meaningful and authentic connections.

This position involves supporting content scheduling, placement, monitoring, analytics, and reporting. Success in this role requires experience in such tactics as word-of-mouth campaigns, influencer strategy, and digital advocacy-building. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating and curating high-quality social media content, staying current on digital trends, and driving engagement through the execution of Tourism Saskatoon’s destination storytelling.

Organic and Paid Social Media Planning, Execution, and Reporting

  • Plan and execute brand-aligned social media across channels, positioning Saskatoon as a destination of choice for consumers
  • Monitor and engage with our social communities across all customer-facing marketing channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok etc.), striving to deliver a consistent and positive experience for all prospective, current and future travellers, regionally and globally
  • Oversee and engage with comments on promoted posts and paid ads as appropriate
  • Identify potential issues and work with the team to manage and respond to such situations quickly and professionally
  • Collaborate with our Manager, Digital Marketing to ensure organic and paid social media plans, initiatives, and content are aligned

  • Support the development and execution of influencer campaigns
  • Collaborate with agency partners to execute influencer strategies
  • Monitor performance, trends and insights from influencer activations
  • Support the logistics for influencer and creator content gathering, including preparing itineraries in consultation with tourism industry partners
  • Manage local and international social media content creators and influencers to support Tourism Saskatoon and industry partners' business goals
