CANADA’S ONLY WORLD CLASS INDOOR TRACK MEET IS BACK WITH A NEW LOOK
Saskatoon, SK – The Knights of Columbus Indoor Games unveiled a new logo in honor of their 48th edition and in preparation for a dash to 50 years. “This is Canada’s only world class indoor track meet” says Executive Director Bob Barkman,” and we are thrilled that this has been in existence this long and are very excited about the next few years as we hit the 50th annual. It is an achievement that not many events ever see.”
The 48th Annual Knights of Columbus Indoor Games will be held January 31st and February 1st at the Saskatoon Field House. Top sprinters from around the world will compete including American Brittney Reese who won a gold medal in the London Olympics. Reese will return as a defending champion in the 50 & 60 meter sprints. Her competitors include Canadian Crystal Emmanuel who was a semi-finalist at the London Olympics and a gold medalist at the Canadian Olympic trials.
Other tops sprinters that will thrill fans include Mikel Thomas, a three-time Olympian from Trinidad and Gavin Smellie who is a top ranked sprinter in Canada. “These are really great athletes”, says Barkman, “and they are always so gracious when they come here. They spend time with local athletes offering advice and encouragement. Most importantly they show the kids what kind of determination it takes to be an Olympic caliber athlete.”
Along with world class sprints the Knights of Columbus Indoor Games also features the exciting Saskatoon elementary school relays both days.
Competition begins at 4:00p.m. both Thursday and Friday. Fans can purchase their tickets at the door with $8.00 for single day or $15.00 for a full event pass.
