Velvet-voiced pianist and soul-jazz innovator Elizabeth Shepherd returns to perform songs from her first bilingual album MONtréal. After 3 years of interviews with strangers around Montreal, Elizabeth found herself with countless stories, making up a “people’s history” of the city she loves so much. The album is a series of original songs chronicling the strangers’ stories against a sonic palette of soul, groove, and a touch of electronica. Featuring four of Montreal’s best jazz musicians, the show is accompanied by a film, a stylized journey of the places and people who inspired each song. MONtréal is Elizabeth’s most ambitious project to date, reaffirming her originality as a ground-breaking jazz artist.
