Skills Class: Preserving 101

  • Capture all that garden goodness so you can enjoy it all winter long! In this preserving skills class Sarah will introduce participants to the basics of common preserves. The focus will be on water canning and participants will take home a sample of the preserves they create to enjoy at a later time.  Chef: Sarah Davis Menu/Lesson Plan:  This class will primarily cover the topic of water canning, including: - How to water can - What equipment is needed - What foods can be water canned - How to do it safely Topics covered will include: - Pickles - Jam - Whole tomatoes - Stone fruit This class will also include light discussion on various other methods including: - Lacto-fermentation - Pressure canning - Dehydration  Bread and some of Sarah's homemade preserves will be available for snacking on during the class :)
