Our upcoming concert Together for Christmas is a collaboration with the well-known mixed-voice choir, St. Peter’s Chorus, whose members hail from the Humboldt area. Besides performing their own selections SMC and St. Peter’s will join forces for several pieces, including one for men alone; the combination of more than 50 tenor and bass voices is sure to be a highlight. Saskatoon Men’s Chorus will also reprise one of its favourite songs from recent years, an arrangement of John McDermott’s “Christmas in the Trenches,” recounting the legendary Christmas truce that took place along the Western Front in 1914. Featured in this work is gifted young baritone Gabriel Beneš, who recently re-located to Vancouver after studying vocal performance at the University of Saskatchewan. Together for Christmastakes place Sunday, November 24th at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with a reception to follow; a repeat performance is planned for Sunday, December 1st at 2:30 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, Humboldt.
