Broadway District

An Urban Village Experience

Before the town of Nutana amalgamated with Saskatoon in 1906, Broadway Avenue was Nutana’s main commercial strip. The street was aptly named because its width meant teams of more than two horses could make U-turns without having to go around the block. Today, you’ll want to walk around the block several times in the pedestrian-friendly area. It’s where you’ll find Saskatoon’s best urban village experience with a decidedly bohemian atmosphere, a place to celebrate local shops, cuisine and entertainment. Broadway is the artsy cousin of the Saskatoon neighbourhoods – effortlessly cool, chic, mature, and confident enough in who she is that she respects her history, but fresh and hip enough to keep up with the young ‘uns.

Festivals live here!

As if it weren't lively enough, there are a number of festivals that take place all through the year in the Broadway district. Everything from the eclectic Fringe Festival to the shopper's dream: the Broadway Street Fair. In the colder months, you'll have a chance to see the hottest acts at Winterruption taking place every year in January.
