Water Sports in Saskatoon
Here in Saskatoon, we’ve perfected the art of having good old flat out fun. Thanks to the lack of mountainous, or even hilly terrain, you’ve got the opportunity to enjoy a calm, rapid-free waterway suitable for all levels.
Lessons for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding (SUP) are recommended to become familiar with the river before you set out for an adventure. Escape Sports in Riversdale provides SUP lessons for all levels – they’re pretty good at teaching since they’ve been standing upright for most of their lives. Once you’ve figured out which way is SUP, join the Escape team for a coffee and paddle board group, or even an excursion from Poplar Bluffs back to the city.
If you’re leaning towards kayaking, Coldsprings Paddling gives lessons and can hook you up with gear and rentals. Another great river adventure to try is a CanoeSki tour. This can include either a shorter, historical journey of Chief Whitecap Waterway or an overnight excursion. You can even camp on an island!
