As a destination, Saskatoon has a long history. Not only have people been flocking to Saskatoon for over 6000 years (that’s almost twice the age of the Egyptian pyramids), but in more recent memory, Saskatoon has become the go-to destination for travellers seeking mouth-watering local food, an incredible variety of cultures, an amazing display of the arts, and some of the friendliest and most charismatic people you’ll ever meet.
And we’re not the only ones that think so. The New York Times named Saskatoon as the only Canadian destination on their 2018 annual 52 Places to Go list.
We’ve done such a good job at getting people to take notice and action in our city, that we’ve even invented our own word: Saskatooning. Saskatooning describes just about every activity that you can think of in the city. At Black Fox Farm & Distillery sipping some of the world’s best oaked gin at one of the few farm-to-flask distilleries in North America? That’s Saskatooning. Checking out the world’s most comprehensive Picasso linocut collection at the Remai Modern? That’s Saskatooning. Whatever and wherever you go in the city, you’re #Saskatooning!
As one of the youngest, sunniest, fastest growing, and most welcoming cities in Canada, Saskatoon is a treasure trove of stories just waiting to be shared.
