Winter Fun YXE
Saskatoon is a breathtaking city. Especially when it’s -40 degrees Celsius and the snot in your nose freezes – that’s breathtaking! We are tough here and we love the winter and the majestic beauty that it brings. Snow-lined streets and glittering hoar-frosted trees make the city look like the inside of a snow globe. However it’s not only about observing the picturesque, pristine expanses of snow – winter means action. Specifically, the kind that carves up that snow – kicksledding, skating on outdoor rinks, or cross country skiing. Oh, and did you know Saskatoon holds the world record for the largest snowball fight? Yeah. You could say we like snow.
We also take our action indoors with high-intensity lacrosse, climbing rooms, trampoline parks, as well as hockey… everywhere. In stadiums, on the streets, in basements, and at indoor and outdoor rinks across the city, Saskatoon is a big fan of Canada’s game.
Oh, but the lights! Because it's practically dark starting at 5:00 PM for several months, we really like to brighten things up with lots of twinkling lights. View the spectacle of Canada’s largest outdoor drive-through Christmas light display at the BHP Billiton Enchanted Forest Holiday Light Tour (end of November - mid-January). Relax with a to-go coffee or hot chocolate in your car and cruise through the light display with family. It's a Saskatoon tradition!
Remember to dress in layers and enjoy every moment of winter in Saskatoon!
